As we navigate our new normal and face many uncertainties it is natural to feel overwhelmed. It’s safe to say many of us have experienced this at some point in our lives.

Getting in the right headspace is helpful when feeling overwhelmed.

Exercise releases stress and has a positive impact on not only mental health but physical health as well.

Positive thinking. Our thought life is very powerful. Negative thoughts breed negativity. When this happens to me, I often quote Philippians 4:8. Check out the KJV here.

Eat healthy food. This might seem like a strange suggestion, but food has a direct impact on our focus as well as our physical and mental wellbeing.

The final thought I’d like to leave with you is prayer. When I give my cares to the Lord, He helps me. All I have to do is ask and then release it to Him. Asking but then keeping a tight hold on everything, and being unwilling to relinquish control is not helpful. Yes, I know this from experience.

My characters in my romantic suspense Edge of Truth know a thing or two about feeling overwhelmed. It seemed like no matter what they did, life kept throwing punches—big ones. But through it all Jeff reminded Kara over and over to trust the Lord. He loves us and He cares for us. He wants what’s best for us.

The next time you feel overwhelmed, remember to get in the right headspace, try one or all of the strategies listed above and give it to the Lord. What strategies do you use to cope with feeling overwhelmed?
