My husband and I are going through a difficult time. He’s been out of work this whole year. God has prompted us to sell our current home and find one less expensive. But what makes this so hard is that this is my dream house. Not that it’s perfect, but it’s a tad bit out of the city in an area with bigger lots. It’s the first time ever that I haven’t lived in a neighborhood with houses right up close to ours. It’s just what I prayed for. So leaving it is really hard.

All through the Bible, God has called people to do difficult things. Look at Moses. He thought he was a king’s son, raised in the most lavish wealth there was at that time. But then he realizes, he’s been living a lie. When he turns to God, he is banished from his home and sent to the wilderness for many years. You’ve got to wonder what went through his mind. He had to be thinking similar thoughts that the prodigal son did. Why am I here when I have a wealthy father?

What Moses hadn’t learned yet was that his Father, was the wealthiest of all, and the new king he served was King over everything. How hard it must have been for him to endure those early years of his faith. His life didn’t get much easier when God sent him back to Egypt, years later, to save those held in captivity.

The point I’m trying to make is that God often calls us to do hard things, like moving from a house you love, especially when you don’t know where you’ll end up. It may be making friends with a neighbor or co-worker you don’t care for. It could be enduring the stress of having your home flooded and losing most of your belongings, like many in Oklahoma and Arkansas are dealing with. I have a good friend who is going through chemo, but as hard as that is, I know God will use her situation to touch others. I don’t know what the difficult situation is in your life, but God does. Trust Him, move forward with Him, you with eventually find peace and comfort.

Psalm 37:7-9
Be still before the Lord
and wait patiently for him;
do not fret when people succeed in their ways,
when they carry out their wicked schemes.
8 Refrain from anger and turn from wrath;
do not fret—it leads only to evil.
9 For those who are evil will be destroyed,
but those who hope in the Lord will inherit the land.
